We collect information about those who attend the church or its meetings, to enable the church to keep in touch with them and provide pastoral support if appropriate.

In most cases Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest – which means that without it we could not function properly. For certain purposes not covered by legitimate interest including, but not exclusively, the distribution of circulated information and the compilation of a Church Directory of members and regular worshippers, we can and will only process such data with your consent.

Information will only be stored on password-protected computers, in locked cabinets if in paper format or in online storage permitted by Data Protection legislation (specifically within the UK or EU and not beyond).

We will only collect such information as is needed for our purposes and will not retain it longer than necessary.

To enable us to provide adequate pastoral support to those connected with the Church, the Minister may record information which may be regarded as sensitive. This information will be stored (in password protected documents) on the church computer but the password will only be known by the Minister. This information will NOT be disclosed to anyone else without your consent unless required in exceptional circumstances by law.

You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you (including the pastoral support information) by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the Church Secretary. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified.

If you believe we have inadvertently processed your information without consent where required, or are otherwise concerned about the way your information is being handled please speak to the Church Secretary. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
