Connecting with nature

Thought for the day on BBC Radio 4 recently was about connecting with nature, which reminded me about writing a blog about a walk I did with Helen on the morning of Maundy Thursday. School Takeover Challenge

Ladies who lunch – April

A monthly get together on the first Tuesday of the month. Today we were pleased that eleven ladies were able to meet up at the College Oak, Peachcroft, to enjoy a lovely meal, in lovely company. It was a very chatty and happy couple of hours – well, you know, once ladies get together, we can talk for England….well, perhaps Abingdon at least! The bean lady has been….

Yesterday afteroon there was a very special gathering at the 35 Ock Street cafe…. The Coffee Bean Lady came to visit to advise on how to get the best from our coffee machine, and she brought a wide selection of coffees for a taste test with a cross section of people from the Church.

Cake. Very good cake.

Yesterday at the 35 Ock Street café, I had this cake as a splendid dessert after a most warming bowl of mixed vegetable soup. Clearly the country’s best bakers are not part of the Great British Bake Off, but are actually supplying the cakes to the café. Brilliant!

35 Ock St – 20 years.

This coming Saturday, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the opening of 35 Ock Street, our volunteer-run community meeting place and café. From 10.30am to 4pm there will be refreshments and a soup lunch to enjoy, people to meet, and displays about the centre’s work to browse.
