Lunchtime music hour

A fundraising initiative to raise important funds to help pay off loans taken out when we redeveloped the church and sanctuary. The first one was actually in March 2020, but we only had one before the pandemic and lockdowns. So, we were delighted to be in a position to try again and have just enjoyed the second of the musical hours. The idea is to come and listen while munching your lunch (either your own packed lunch or something bought from Café@35)!

Both events have attracted approximately 25 – 30 people.  In March we were entertained by Linda and Pam on the piano and guitar and enjoyed a variety of music genres. In April we have been treated by Gill on the piano and organ (not both together!) and listened to a variety of classical music including some by Mendelssohn and Schubert learning a little about each composer and piece in between. We even attempted to learn a little Welsh for the last two lines of ‘Guide me O thou Great Redeemer’, which we attempted to sing, with varying degrees of success, or not! Gill also played the Jamaican Rumba and finished with a fun piece called The Entertainer. We’ve certainly been entertained! With donations invited for our Development Project these two events have raised a marvellous £330 (including gift aid).
