Jill is married to Ian, a retired Baptist minister, and together they served in three churches. Jill was brought up in a Methodist church; at 16 she went with friends to a Congregational church, which then became a United Reformed Church where she became a member and worked in the Junior Church, and was Assistant Cub Scout Leader. Later she started attending Tyndale Baptist Church in Bristol, where she was baptised and became a member. Here she started up a Youth Club. She met Ian in 1976 and they married in 1979. Later, in Coleford, she became Playgroup Leader before moving to Oxfordshire. From her background she is very ecumenically minded.
In 2001, the family moved to Abingdon and started to attend Abingdon Baptist Church, and in 2011 was privileged to be part of the Leadership Team for two three year terms. In 2018, Jill retired, having worked for BMS World Mission in Didcot in various administrative roles since 1992. Outside of church, she enjoys bird watching and pottering in the garden, listening to light music and watching sport and various detective and science fiction series on TV. She’s always loved her animals, currently two lively black labradors, and of course she loves her grandchildren!
