Steve started his ministry at ABC as joint pastor with Red’d Dr Paul Goodliff, both starting ministry here in June 2015. ABC is Steve’s first Baptist church as a minister, but he has pastored another church and been very involved in church leadership for as long as he can remember. Since the end of June 2018 he has been flying solo as Paul left us to take up the post of General Secretary of Churches Together in England.
Steve’s background began in Law enforcement with the Immigration Service, based on the south coast and in France. After a very clear call from God Steve and the family had a change of career direction and went to train at All Nations Christian College before moving to Peru as missionaries with SIM (Serving In Mission). After serving in Peru they returned to the UK and Steve worked at the SIM UK headquarters until they felt the call to pastoral ministry and moved to pastor a church in south Suffolk.
Before coming to ABC Steve was Director of a UK based mission agency (Cambodia Action) working in South East Asia, this involved regular trips to the region and lots of interesting exploits while visiting team members and projects in areas well off the beaten track.
Steve is married to Heather, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in a local GP surgery, and they have 2 daughters Holly and Chloe who are both in their twenties and of course Scooby the dog! Outside of church life you’ll find Steve pottering in the garden, watching football (Liverpool of course!) taking the dog for a walk or exploring the Cotswolds.
