Revd Rachel Hughes

Before accepting the call to be minister of Abingdon Baptist church, Rachel has had varied experience working as a Religious Studies Teacher, Head of Year and Head of Department for many years in an inner-city school in the East of Cardiff. Revd Ian Millgate

Ian is a retired Baptist minister who was trained at Spurgeon’s College in London before serving in three churches in Bristol, Birmingham and Gloucestershire between 1977 and 1990. He then joined the national staff of the Baptist Union in Didcot where he worked until 2018 and used the administrative skills he now tries to bring to this role. Jill Millgate

Jill is married to Ian, a retired Baptist minister, and together they served in three churches. Jill was brought up in a Methodist church; at 16 she went with friends to a Congregational church, which then became a United Reformed Church where she became a member and worked in the Junior Church, and was Assistant Cub Scout Leader. Adam has been a member of ABC since 2008 and can usually be found operating the Audio/Visual console at the back of the church on a Sunday morning. He has been IT Manager at the church since 2016. Christine Cairns

Chris Cairns (née Joynes) was born in Oldham, Lancashire. She has retained her northern accent, despite living in Oxfordshire since the early 1990s. She read Theology at St Hugh’s College, Oxford and then went on to complete a doctorate in New Testament studies under the supervision of Christopher Rowland. Dorothy Field

I have been a long standing member of ABC and have undertaken various roles over the years. Currently I am the  Link Deacon for the Mission Committee, Deputy Organist, and a member of the ’35 Ock Street’ Pastoral Leadership Team as well as fulfilling the many other regular duties of a Deacon. Christine Hutt

Christine was re-elected to the diaconate in 2022 and enjoys singing, cooking and walking. She lives in Abingdon close to one of her three daughters. Her responsibility as a deacon includes pastoral care. She enjoys attending retreats and is very involved with Christian Aid.

Rosalie Lorrison

I am originally from the Philippines and grew up in a Baptist family and was a member and taught Family Church at my home church there and still support them  in the Church Mission and projects.
