Giving

Why Give?

First and foremost we give in response to God’s love and gift to us of life in Jesus Christ! He is a giving God – “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

But also we give to our Church in order to maintain and support its work, and we are grateful to the many who already generously help us by giving. If you are a member of our community but don’t currently support us in this way we ask you to consider whether God is now calling you to use some of what you have to further his work here – and elsewhere, because as a church we don’t think we should keep everything given to us, but feel we should in turn pass some on.

We support several causes, mainly but not exclusively Baptist, including Baptist Home Mission which helps spread the love of Jesus in our own country and BMS World Mission which makes his love known by practical service and proclamation of the gospel in many countries around the world. Recently we’ve given gifts to The Abingdon Bridge, the Carousel Family Centre, the League of Friends of Abingdon Hospital and Open Doors (supporting persecuted Christians in other countries), amongst others.

How to Give

There are various different ways to give to support the work of Abingdon Baptist Church.

If you wish to give to the church regularly, the very best way is to set up a Standing Order, and if you do this directly with your bank there are no charges involved. For the account details to help you do this, please contact the Church Secretary or Treasurer. And if you are a UK Taxpayer, you can also Gift Aid your donations.

You can also place your gift in the offering baskets before or after our services. If you wish to give regularly by cash, you can request a pack of offering envelopes via the Treasurer – and donations made that way are eligible for Gift Aid.

Finances

It is important to note, that visitors to the church are under no obligation to give to support the work of the church. We welcome you for you, not for your money!
